Post 7: a response to my friendly colleagues

Date: June 4, 2009

After about 45 days I could find a fortune to visit the English forum, at first glance I came across with my great friends’ posts at this topic. I really got surprised with the great posts that you had sent. You have exaggerated about me. Thank you a lot for your kindly words.

But about military service, that is a really great experience, although I have encountered with a lot of difficulties. So, I have passed the difficult stage of it, and day by day military service becomes as easy as pie.

I really enjoyed looking at the topics that have been sent through these days, and I hope to finish the military service to join the group for improving our English as well as our french.

Thank you again and wish you the bests

History mystery
Have a history teacher explain this.....if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln "s secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy"s Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln , was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln , was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."

Kennedy was shot in a car called " Lincoln " made by "Ford."

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here"s the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe.

Sorry. I think it was not the right place I posted this. But who cares? I suppose nobody would see this unless the executive.

Salaam dear researcher

Surely I would like to go on what u said in the topic "you and English" here…

One of my greatest worries is our precious native language….which has been shattered …

I heard each 15 days a language dies in the world…

I completely agree. Have u seen the advertisements of EASY LIFE? :) OK They can say زندگی راحت or something like this instead. Or a lot of medical expressions that is written on form for patients and with Persian alphabet or when they r talking about a sickness or something. مزیض فینت  می کنه یعنی چی؟ خوب بگید غش می کنه. یا مثلا می گن دک کشتی. که می شه عرشه ی کشتی.

These easy things that have exact right alternatives in Persian should not be said in English in my opinion. They say those for their conveniences but it would gradually harm the main language. As we see there are a lot of English words that people use while they don"t even know their Persian meaning & they think maybe it"s a high class foreign expression. I"m talking about very easy words that can be said in Farsi like in Sociology دروس اجتماعی و مدنی مدرسه یادمه

all those words had Persian alternatives but we had to learn their English words without even knowing what their meanings were & in that age we thought OK these are special & should be just memorized. & if we knew their Farsi concept we would grasp out lessons better.

We shouldn"t neglect because we need English, everyone should know English but when we are using Persian in pupils lessons or texts or speech we mustn"t use easy English words instead of Persian ones & bring them to our language as children who don"t know English or many people who are not familiar with those terms assume that they are special & have to be used like that.
